Together Against Coronavirus. UNICEF continues to deliver professional protective supplies to Armenia

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to grow, UNICEF is procuring and shipping vital supplies, including desperately required personal protective equipment to Armenia. Recent delivery of supplies includes surgical gowns and coveralls of different sizes, masks and protective aprons, which will be provided to Ministry of Health.

“While the speed and scale of the outbreak is posing countless challenges, we make every effort to ensure provision of critical supplies to those in need,” said Tanja Radocaj, UNICEF Representative in Armenia. “Protecting healthcare workers remains a top priority. These are the heroes on the frontline who continue tirelessly providing care and support to children and families affected in this unprecedented global crisis.”

Altogether, from April to May, UNICEF provided the Government of Armenia with a total of 79,800 gloves, 23,200 face masks, 4,600 medical gowns, 1,235 liters of hand sanitizer gel, 900 protective coveralls, 543 liters of disinfectant liquid. The supplies were provided to Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport, and Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs with the objective to protect frontline workers, including healthcare professionals, social workers, police officers, as well as children in institutions and children in conflict with the law.

At the end of April, UNICEF also provided Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport with 200 tablets, including with funding from Ameriabank for 122, with the objective to support children with no access to online learning.

In May, UNICEF provided 79 pieces of learning materials, including books, textbooks and dictionaries, as well as board games, for juvenile children at Abovyan penitentiary.

To further support Armenia’s frontline workers, as well as be able to reach kindergartens and schools, UNICEF appeals to partners, citizens, and private sector companies to get involved, share, and donate through UNICEF website or through a direct bank payment to UNICEF: 21700 001-051986-050 (AMD), 21700 001-051986-150 (USD).
