World Humanitarian Day 2025: Honoring Those Who #ActForHumanity

18 August 2025

Today, on World Humanitarian Day, WFP Armenia and its partner organizations pay tribute to humanitarian workers who risk their lives to help those in need. These individuals often operate under extreme conditions and deserve protection and recognition for their life-saving efforts.

Under the global theme #ActForHumanity, we honor the courage and commitment of humanitarian workers around the world. By August this year, more than 170 humanitarians have been killed, and at least 150 injured while serving communities in crisis.

WFP, together with its partners, remains at the forefront of humanitarian action, saving and changing lives across the globe. We respond to emergencies with life-saving food assistance and work toward long-term solutions that promote peace, stability, and resilience in communities affected by conflict, disasters, and climate change.

In response to recent crises, WFP Armenia has supported refugees and socioeconomically vulnerable populations with hot meals, food assistance cards, and food rations, ensuring their basic food and nutritional needs are met during times of displacement and uncertainty. In Armenia, WFP’s work goes beyond immediate relief. We focus on resilient food systems, school meals programme, empowering communities, and supporting the government to achieve sustainable food security and improved livelihoods for vulnerable households.

On this day, WFP Armenia reaffirms its commitment to humanitarian principles and call on everyone to recognize and support those who #ActForHumanity.
