UNIDO Supports NBSM to Enhance Electrical Calibration Capacity
20 June 2025
Yerevan, Armenia – June 16-20, 2025 – United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) conducted a five-day intensive training for the staff of the National Body for Standards and Metrology (NBSM), focused on strengthening the technical capabilities of its Electrical Laboratory, the training was organized within the framework of the EU-funded “Support to Quality Infrastructure in Armenia” project, implemented by UNIDO.
The practical on-job training on internal audit according to ISO/IEC 17025 requirements in Electrical laboratory was aimed to improve quality management systems and prepare the laboratory for international accreditation in line with ISO/IEC 17025.
Over the course of five days a mock audit was conducted during the training under the supervision of an international UNIDO expert, enabling participants to assess real-time laboratory processes, identify gaps, and propose improvements.
This training is a significant step toward the international accreditation of NBSM’s calibration services offered by the newly established Electrical Laboratory. Development of technical and human capacities of the Electrical Laboratory supports Armenia’s broader strategy to align with European and international quality infrastructure standards.
The "Support to Quality Infrastructure in Armenia" project, funded by the European Union and implemented by UNIDO, is dedicated to strengthening NBSM’s role in providing sustainable and internationally recognized metrology services. By reinforcing Armenia’s legal, institutional, and technical frameworks for metrology, the initiative contributes to the country’s efforts in advancing economic diversification and trade competitiveness, aligning with the objective of the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA) with the EU.
