UNIDO Armenia's COVID-19 Response

In the framework of the MPTF-funded COVID-19 response, UNIDO Armenia's Textile project team conducted activities to support small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

It includes production of the PPE by the Armenian companies and their provision to the Ministry of Health of Armenia. Taking advantage of UNIDO’s extensive experience in the implementation of technical assistance programmes, this initiative generated a comprehensive supportive impact on the local SMEs. It allowed to uphold sales and maintain employment (1000 employees, 95% of which women), enabling light industry producers to meet the pressing demand for medical gear in the healthcare sector of Armenia.

As a result, employees were able to keep their jobs, supporting the companies’ ongoing activities during the challenging times. Supported by UNIDO, the beneficiary companies produced 2,623 sets of bed linen and 2,000 medical suits.
