11 August 2025
Yerevan, Armenia – August 4-8, 2025 – Building on the online training sessions conducted in July on legal metrology, UNIDO organized in-depth and practical training sessions on the Measuring Instruments Directive 2014/32/EU (MID) focusing on fuel dispensers (MI-005). The training sessions were held for seven legal metrologists of the National Body for Standards and Metrology (NBSM) and two invited representatives from the Market Surveillance Inspection Body (MSIB), within the framework of the EU-funded “Support to Quality Infrastructure in Armenia” project.
The training focused on relevant aspects of technical requirements, metrological requirement, and conformity assessment procedures for fuel dispensers in line with MID requirements, with particular emphasis on Modules B, D, F, and G, as well as on the application of OIML Recommendation R117.
Delivered by international experts from the Czech Metrology Institute (CMI), the program combined theoretical and practical sessions. Topics included were: EC-type examination procedures, initial verification techniques, subsequent verification according to national legislation, procedures related to safety instructions etc. The sessions aimed to equip participants with the knowledge and tools needed to implement MID directive (particularly respective annex on fuel dispensers MI-005) and to support alignment with European regulatory frameworks.
The "Support to Quality Infrastructure in Armenia" project, funded by the European Union and implemented by UNIDO, is dedicated to strengthening NBSM’s role in providing sustainable and internationally recognized metrology services. By reinforcing Armenia’s legal, institutional, and technical frameworks for metrology, the initiative contributes to the country’s efforts in advancing economic diversification and trade competitiveness, aligning with the objective of the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA) with the EU.
