UNIDO Delivers Hands-On Training on Fuel Dispenser Calibration and MID Implementation for NBSM and MSIB Staff

Yerevan, Armenia – August 4-8, 2025 – Building on the online training sessions conducted in July on legal metrology, UNIDO organized in-depth and practical training sessions on the Measuring Instruments Directive 2014/32/EU (MID) focusing on fuel dispensers (MI-005). The training sessions were held for seven legal metrologists of the National Body for Standards and Metrology (NBSM) and two invited  representatives from the Market Surveillance Inspection Body (MSIB), within the framework of the EU-funded “Support to Quality Infrastructure in Armenia” project.

The training focused on relevant aspects of technical requirements, metrological requirement, and conformity assessment procedures for fuel dispensers in line with MID requirements, with particular emphasis on Modules B, D, F, and G, as well as on the application of OIML Recommendation R117.

Delivered by international experts from the Czech Metrology Institute (CMI), the program combined theoretical and practical sessions. Topics included were: EC-type examination procedures, initial verification techniques, subsequent verification according to national legislation, procedures related to safety instructions etc. The sessions aimed to equip participants with the knowledge and tools needed to implement MID directive (particularly respective annex on fuel dispensers MI-005) and to support alignment with European regulatory frameworks.
